PGA Tour Missed A Golden Opportunity

Danny Lee Contributes $2500
Danny Lee
Danny Lee was unable to defend his title as champion of the Greenbrier Classic. Because of the serious flooding damage in White Sulphur Springs and other W. Va. towns, the tournament was cancelled this year. Danny vowed to contribute money based on his performance in Ireland this weekend. You can read that story here. But we think the PGA Tour could have (and should have) stepped up and done something too.
It would have been a great PR coup if the tour had simply invited some of the top names on tour to participate in a one or two day event somewhere. Valhalla, here in Louisville, would have been a perfect choice. It’s already hosted PGA Championships and a Ryder Cup. The fans in the area always sell out the venue. They could have raised a ton of money for the folks in WVA, many of whom have lost everything. Maybe next time.
